Cold Spring Harbor, NY - Daniel Gale Sotheby's International Realty (DGSIR), one of the nation's leading realtors, is embracing the spirit of the holiday season by hosting a Toys for Tots drive that encompasses 54 locations from Manhasset to Shelter Island on Long Island's North Shore. The event is planned for December 9, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
"The Daniel Gale Sotheby's organization is excited to be promoting Toys for Tots across the North Shore of Long Island," said Patricia Petersen, president and CEO of DGSIR. "As a group, we have a history of coming together to support good causes and we are particularly thrilled to support Toys for Tots, especially in light of the many Long Island families whose homes were damaged or destroyed by Hurricane Sandy."
Last year, Daniel Gale Sotheby's Laura Zambratto, an associate director with the organization's upper tier marketing program, hosted a Toys for Tots drop off during an open house at one of her listings. She decorated the home, provided refreshments and by the end of the open house had greeted more than 100 visitors including neighbors, prospective homebuyers, real estate agents and friends. "I was overwhelmed by the enthusiasm and generosity of the community," she recalls. "One person brought two new bicycles. I knew right away that the Daniel Gale Sotheby's organization would want to join with me this year and help collect toys for children in our local communities. Of course, we didn't know at the time how great the need would be this year."
Under Laura's guidance, a total of 54 locations will be hosting festive drop off events with decorations and refreshments, among them DGSIR office locations* and at every Daniel Gale Sotheby's open house across the North Shore on December 9. Those interested in donating can drop off new, unwrapped toys either at local Daniel Gale Sotheby's offices from December 2 through December 9 or at the open houses on December 9. "The Marine Corps is sending out 20 Marines to help with our collection efforts on that day," explains Laura. "They spend the afternoon with us and will answer questions about the program."
The mission of the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.
