Seattle, WA – January, 2005 –  The enormous devastation left by the recent Tsunami can be felt at every corner of the globe.  At the time of this article, the death toll is over 155,000 with numbers climbing daily. More than 500,000 people were injured, and tens of thousands are still missing.  Due to the fact that many victims were swept into the ocean or buried under rubble, the final death toll may never be known.  An estimated 5 million people are left homeless and destitute, with one million homeless in Indonesia alone.

The tsunami was triggered by a 9.0 Magnitude earthquake approximately 100 miles from the western coast Sumatra, an Indonesian Island.  The earthquake was the fourth largest quake to be measured, ever.

Amongst the devastation comes hope in the human spirit.  Nearly $6 billion has been pledged by governments worldwide so far, and relief efforts continue to build momentum all over the world.

As part of the international relief effort, Who's Who in Luxury Real Estate, LuxuryRealEstate.com and The Board of Regents have established a relief fund with proceeds going to the American Red Cross.  Proceeds will help provide food, clothing, medicine and especially shelter to our brothers and sisters in this devastated part of the world. Nick Anthony, our Asian Director, survived in Phuket, Thailand and Emily Burns Castelli, our former colleague and Who's Who Director, survived with her husband and tiny baby in Sri Lanka. Donations can be sent to our Headquarters, payable to 'LuxuryRealEstate.com Tsunami Relief Fund', or sent to:
