1341514901Andy Moir was born and grew up on the Canadian prairies. He first saw Long and Brier Islands in 1974 and fell in love with their rugged beauty. Since that time, his career as a journalist and a radio and television producer with CBC and CTV has taken him to many of the most spectacular locations on the planet. But the Islands captured his heart. Andy bought his home in Freeport in 1978. It was his summer refuge for many years, until he and his wife Christine Callaghan moved to Freeport full-time in 1996. That's when they opened their Bed and Breakfast, and for the next eight years, enjoyed showing the wonders of the Islands and Digby Neck to thousands of guests.

1341514970Andy also has an extensive background in home renovations, having completely done over their own 1870's home, plus others on the Islands. He has a large wood-working shop on his Freeport property. Andy knows the Islands and Digby Neck well. 14 years ago he helped start a community newspaper, run entirely by volunteers, which is still going strong. He's been very much involved in the development of walking trails and other community projects to improve life on the Neck and Islands.

Andy and his wife Christine spend much of their time with their many animals including a horse and donkey, a border collie, several cats, and two turtles.

You can also find Andy, on occasion, sitting down at the piano in Lavena's Catch Cafe playing the blues.
