Joanne Erickson, Broker at Colorado Group Realty, recently traveled to St. Petersburg, Russia to attend a real estate conference. FIABCI, the International Real Estate Federation, hosted its 2012 World Congress in St. Petersburg, Russia. The FIABCI 63rd World Congress attracted over 800 international professionals from the real estate industry, representing over 60 countries. The event took place from May 12-16, in one of the most beautiful Congress halls in Europe – the Corinthia Nevsky Palace.
“FIABCI-Russia was pleased to welcome professionals within the global real estate industry to attend this important forum,” said Alexander Romanenko, FIABCI’s Immediate Past World President and Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the 63rd World Congress. “Attendees to this World Congress were among the first to get the insight of new realities of the development of the real estate market after the world economic crisis. One of the most interesting themes of the Congress was the preservation of cultural heritage in a modern developing city utilizing St. Petersburg and other world capitals as examples.”
The 63rd FIABCI World Congress in St. Petersburg is considered to be one of the most esteemed international meetings taking place during 2012. The global event featured an exciting program filled with plenty of cutting edge and timely information pertaining to real estate, and provided numerous opportunities for business development and networking. Several world-renowned experts and entrepreneurs as well as internationally recognized business leaders from the global real estate and development industries shared exciting, new ideas for real estate development in different regions throughout the world. Presenters included world-renowned Economist Hernando de Soto, President of the Institute for Liberty and Democracy; Ronald Phipps, 2012 Immediate Past President of the National Association of Realtors and Jason Hu, Mayor of Taichung, Taiwan. The World Congress also included outstanding international activities as well as recreational and study tours including Study Tours to the Central Naval Museum, a project of the group of companies "Intarsia," following its renovation and to Etalon Group’s ready built and construction projects.
During the conference, Erickson pointed the spotlight on Steamboat Springs, with a slideshow presentation on the local real estate market. She focused on the outstanding lifestyle and a variety of property types available for purchase. She said, the immediate response was ‘beautiful photos, beautiful place’. “Many people were not familiar with Steamboat, so it was educational. I was told that ski resorts are ‘sexy’”, she reported. “Right now Australians make up a large segment of our international buyers. The new winter flight from Los Angeles to Hayden/Steamboat Springs will make it easier for the Aussies to get here. I do expect to see an increase of Brazilians and other Latinos as well” said Erickson.
