Monmouth Beach Welcomes New Real Estate Company to Town

1340135741MONMOUTH BEACH: The first thing you notice upon entering is the surfboard hanging over the reception area. It’s a sculpture created by local artist Ronnie Jackson carved from a full-size surfboard depicting sunset on an ocean pier. It’s bright, colorful and three-dimensional, and it creates the perfect entrance for… a real estate office?

“We’re in Monmouth Beach, why not have something that reminds you we’re just a few blocks to the ocean?” said Carolynn Ozar Diakon, broker and senior partner of Resources Real Estate which recently opened a branch office here in town with a interior design that looks more like a beach cabana than a traditional office.

Some would say it’s an appropriate image for the company as well: free-spirited, independent, colorful and a fun way to experience the thrill ride that has been the real estate market of the past decade or so. When Diakon first opened Resources Real Estate in 2000 it was with the idea of creating a brokerage that was different from the rest. “We’re not a franchise, we’re not trying to be a corporate giant,” she said. “We would rather deliver on our promises and serve our clientele really well than trying to be all things to all people.”

1340135798Apparently there was a need for such a concept in the small oceanside town of Monmouth Beach because only after being open for a few months, Resources is already a market leader.

To help get the word out about their success and to draw attention to their available listings, the company recently staged a broker event in town with all of their properties held open, a follow-up lunch at their new office space and gift prizes for attending agents to help focus attention on local businesses like Sallee Tee’s, Booskerdoo coffee shop, Daisy Chocolates, Michael Angelo’s and My Kitchen Witch.

“We think it’s important to always remember that we don’t just do business here, we are a part of the community,” said Thomas McCormack, Diakon’s business partner and manager of the new office. “Having local artists’ work on display and helping to support local business is part of being a community member.”

Agents Helen George, Vanessa & Lauren Dooley, Patrice Carden, Dennis Soboti, Patricia Cahill, Patricia Bennett and Jessica Johnston were all attracted to Resources because it offered something different.

“The support I’ve received at Resources has been truly great,” said Helen George, sales associate formerly of Remax. “The positive energy of this company actually makes good business sense and is wonderful. I’m glad to be a part of it.”

The local focus of the office is evident with all of the agents living in town or nearby.

“I love living in Monmouth Beach and working here has been a godsend,” said Patrice Ciccalese Carden, sales associate formerly of Avis Realty. “I enjoy working with such a strong group of professionals… plus I can walk to the office!”

Since opening, the company’s community spirit has been in full view with their colorful storefront display and decorated signs for “Paint the Town Pink,” a breast cancer awareness event, and their co-sponsorship of the Monmouth Beach PTO Run.

“There’s a lot of effort that goes into running a real estate brokerage,” said Vanessa Dooley, sales associate formerly of Century 21, “and I appreciate that Resources’ approach is community-minded. It’s a broader focus to marketing than that of other companies I’ve worked for.”

“Plus it’s a lot of fun,” added her daughter, Lauren Dooley, also a sales associate formerly of Century 21.
