Town & Country’s Sells Horton Lane Farm

Posted by Joan H. Bischoff van Heemskerck — April 5, 2012

1333653844The Supervisor of the Town of Southold, Scott Russell, spearheaded a program where the Town issued a bond specifically for the purchase by the Town of family farms with the purpose of perpetually preserving farmland and farming.

This program allowed for the sale of Horton Lane Farm to a purchaser who plans on starting a blueberry farm there. Town and Country was delighted to procure the buyer of Horton Lane Farm and help bring this transaction to a close, helping a farmer find his farm, and the North Fork and Southold Town stay rural.

Nicholas Planamento, Associate Broker and selling agent, has been interested in farmland preservation in the North Fork for many years. His passion for preservation and his expertise in the area played an important role in the success of this deal.
