Cora Bett Thomas Realty Selected as the Area’s Exclusive Marketer of River Rock, Luxury Mountain Community in North Carolina

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Cora Bett Thomas Realty, an exclusive affiliate of Christie’s Great Estates, has been named the only area company to market River Rock, a new luxury mountain community in Cashiers, N.C. which is located on the southernmost plateau of the Appalachians. Cashiers, nestled among the Nantahala National Forest, has served as a summer retreat for affluent Lowcountry families since the mid 1800s. In 2004, Outdoor Magazine ranked Cashiers one of America’s “Top Dream Towns.” Now, Cora Bett Thomas Realty will offer that dream of living in an authentic mountain community with five-star accommodations to local residents. Cora Bett Thomas, founder and CEO of Cora Bett Thomas Realty, said she is thrilled to market this exclusive area, long considered one of the best-kept second-home secrets in the nation. “It’s exciting when you can link the coast to the mountains,” she said. “River Rock will certainly appeal to coastal residents.” River Rock is being developed by Legasus, whose other recent developments include The Georgian Highlands, Sassafras Mountain and Plantation at Old Mill in Atlanta as well as WaterDance in Cashiers. Asheville, N.C.-based Design Workshop is managing the project and Knoxville, Tenn.-based Moss Creek, which specializes in unique mountain homes, is designing all of the development’s amenities, which include a grand lodge and a spa. The 70,000-square-foot lodge will house a movie theater, sports bar, fitness center and restaurant. The River Rock Development will include five villages ranging from 60 to 2,400 acres. Each village will have its own unique architectural feel. The development’s residents can choose their own builder or have Moss Creek design a custom Adirondack or Aspen lodge-style home on a home site from half an acre to more than five acres. Residents also can choose condo-style living on the top floor of the lodge or build a private lake or equestrian villa. The villages will share amenities including clubhouses, a state-of-the-art equestrian complex, a championship golf course, a 65-acre lake club, miles of hiking and horse trails and an indoor tennis complex. Homes sites in the first phase of the development will range between $200,000 and $450,000. Ann Sheils, a sales associate with Cora Bett Thomas Realty, said the most impressive thing about River Rock is that the development will offer a wide variety of amenities and that it allows for green space in up to 70 percent of the village acreage. “For instance, the entrance to the first phase is a long parkway,” she said. “Rather than developing the available land densely, it is developed for aesthetics. No homesites are visible from the long drive into the development, which adjoins streams and waterfalls. All of the gorgeous natural features are held in common: rock formations, waterfalls, streams, and fishing access. There are many small parks dotting the neighborhoods, where rustic Adirondack shelters with fireplaces are available to all owners. The variety of amenities – including fishing, rafting, theaters, indoor tennis, golf, and horseback riding, along with the world-class spa and dining options -- will help create a year-long luxury experience, which is rare, if not unique, in the Highlands-Cashiers area. “River Rock is absolutely beautiful,” Shiels said. “The quality of the design and the construction is truly cutting edge.” ABOUT CORA BETT THOMAS REALTY With listings for the area’s finest residential and commercial properties, Cora Bett Thomas Realty, is an exclusive affiliate of Christie’s Great Estates and a longtime member of Who’s Who in Luxury Real Estate, The Board of Regents, Leading Estates of the World, Luxury Portfolio, the Registry of Real Estate Brokers and Leading Real Estate Companies of the World (formerly RELO).
