Inman Connect is a conference that brings together thousands of the leaders in the real estate and technology industries to discuss the continuous merging of the two fields and resulting opportunities presented to real estate agents and brokers. Keynote speakers included Thomas Arnold, Client Partner at Facebook; Brian Brett, Managing Director of Customer Research at The New York Times; Phil Libin, CEO of Evernote; and Clara Shih, CEO of Hearsay Social.

At Agent Reboot, Katie Lance, Social Media Director at Inman News, presented on the importance of leveraging social media and blogging to help agents and brokers grow their business. In order to guide agents and brokers looking to enhance their social media presence and online marketing efforts, Katie suggested using William Raveis’ content on its social media sites and blog, blog.raveis.com, as a benchmark. She cited the company as having an excellent content strategy to ensure readers and social media followers are engaged,

William Raveis’ blog presents a wide variety of real estate and technology information of interest to consumers and agents, on topics ranging from how to lower heating bills to apps that will help increase productivity and decrease mental clutter. The company actively utilizes Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn to distribute blog posts, as well as interact with consumers on what matters to them when it comes to real estate.

“We’ve had tremendous success with social media as a brand-building tool,” said Bill Raveis, Chairman & CEO of William Raveis. “We understand the ubiquity of the networks and that consumers are starting to prefer social media as a means of communication rather than traditional print. Social media is not only helping us build our brand, but increase our business, as agents and clients see technology savvy as an integral part of a brokerage they choose to work with. I believe the recognition for our efforts on a national and international scale, such as at InmanConnect, is a testament to social media’s role in the real estate industry.”

The company’s innovative use of social networks helped it garner the “Most Innovative Brokerage or Franchise” award from Inman News at InmanConnect, San Francisco, 2011.
