1319740364DENVER – Kentwood City Properties is co-sponsoring the 34th Annual Starz Denver Film Festival (SDFF) scheduled for November 2-12, 2011. Presented by the Denver Film Society, this year’s film festival will showcase more than 250 films representing 47 countries, special awards and presentations, and cinematic celebrations.

“We are pleased to be a patron sponsor of the Starz Denver Film Festival,” said Jim Theye, Managing Broker and co-owner of Kentwood City Properties. “Supporting the SDFF is beneficial to the community as a whole and our company as well. We will be reaching an audience that will exceed approximately 52,000 festival attendees, and we also receive film vouchers that our brokers can share with their clients. The film festival is a very worthwhile endeavor that positions Denver among a handful of top-tier cities that has sufficient support from the community to host an event of this magnitude.”

The full line-up of films will screen over 12 days throughout downtown Denver, including the DFS’s year-old cinematic home, the Denver Film Center/Colfax. Recognized as the region’s leading event, the SDFF brings the “glitz and glam” of Hollywood to Denver, providing more than 50,000 movie-goers with the unique opportunity to participate in the best of international and independent cinema.

“With more than 250 films screening in this year’s festival, SDFF34 is the largest program we have ever produced, and perhaps the most eclectic,” said Brit Withey, Artistic Director for the DFS. “We are extremely pleased with the incredibly diverse mix of recognizable masters and young talents that will be on display and we look forward to showcasing their work.”

Dee Chirafisi, Broker Associate and co-owner of Kentwood City Properties, will be hosting an award presentation during the festival honoring Randi Lee, a widely known jeweler in the Cherry Creek area who died several years ago. Lee was a generous supporter of the DFS and never missed a festival. She was a treasured friend to many and is missed by members and friends of the DFS.

Chirafisi and other supportive patrons are helping raise funds to ensure that the inaugural “Rare Pearl Award” honoring Lee is sufficiently funded to make it an annual award. The event will also raise money for the Capitol Campaign, which will help the DFS purchase its new home on East Colfax. The Rare Pearl event will also feature the Eddie Turner Band. Tickets are available online at www.denverfilm.org.

Founded in 1978, the DFS is a membership-based, non-profit cultural institution that produces film events throughout the year. The Denver Film Center/Colfax presents film programs daily and is Denver’s first and only year-round cinematheque.
