Pennington, NJ—Due to an amazing response to his lecture in March 2009, Cornell University again hosted Richard A. Weidel, President of Weidel Realtors, as a featured guest lecturer. Mr. Weidel’s standing-room-only session, Homebuying & the Fundamentals of Real Estate Brokerage, was well-received by the attendees from Professor Peter Liu’s “Principles of Real Estate” course. Mr. Weidel used this unique opportunity to educate the next generation of Buyers and Sellers about the homebuying process and the basics of real estate brokerage such as history, agency, commission, compensation and negotiation strategies.

“It was an honor to again address the students at Cornell University,” said Mr. Weidel. “Today’s real estate market is presenting new challenges to real estate practitioners at all levels. Dr. Liu’s course is dedicated to educating today’s students about the industry and I am happy to share my knowledge and experience.”

Dr. Peng “Peter” Liu, Assistant Professor of Real Estate, holds a Ph.D. in finance and real estate from the Haas Business School at University of California Berkeley. His course “Principles of Real Estate” approaches real estate from four main perspectives: investment, market, mortgage finance and legal. Understanding these perspectives enables students to make better investment and financing decisions; to use real estate resources wisely; to understand public policy issues and to be prepared for additional courses in real estate investment, finance and development.
