$9,000 Awarded to Seven Local Community Programs

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, CO—The Colorado Group Realty Charitable Foundation awarded a total of $9,000 in grants to seven local organizations Thursday, January 14th at, 12 p.m. at a gathering at the Tread of Pioneers Museum. This is another distribution of grants, which have totaled over $50,000 by the Charitable Foundation and is part of a continuous effort to support community-based programs.

“In order to support our local organizations, it is with great pleasure that each and every broker at Colorado Group Realty contributes to the Colorado Group Realty Charitable Foundation,” said Troy Brookshire, broker/associate at Colorado Group Realty and CGR Charitable Foundation board member.

This winter’s recipients are: Advocates Building Peaceful Communities, the Hayden Heritage Center, North Routt Community Charter School Capital Campaign Fund, Routt County Drug & Alcohol Abuse Council, Steamboat Springs Boys & Girls Club, The Nature Conservancy and the Yampa Valley Community Band.

The Colorado Group Realty Charitable Foundation was established in 2006 in order to provide a means to give back to the community. In addition to donations made at the time of real estate transactions, employees, managers and matching funds from client and public donations, can also contribute to the foundation. The goral of the Charitable Foundation is to support a wide range of community based programs related to human services, the arts, education, western heritage, the environment and recreation.

The past recipients were: Born Free Wildlife Rehabilitation, Colorado West Mental Health Inc., Communidad Integrada, The Community Agriculture Alliance, Discovery Learning Center, Emerald City Opera, Habitat for Humanity, Heritage Park Preschool, Historic Routt County!, Historical Society of Oak Creek & Phippsburg, Hospice Services of Northwest Colorado, Laurel Street School, Lift-Up of Routt County, North Routt Preschool, Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurses Association, Rocky Mountain Summer Conservatory, Rocky Mountain Youth Corps, Rollingstone Respite House, Routt County Search and Rescue, South Routt Early Learning Center, Steamboat Art Museum, Steamboat Springs Montessori, The Steamboat Springs Youth Orchestra, Totally Kids, Tread of Pioneers Museum, Western Heritage Partnership, Wyman Living History Ranch & Museum, Yampa Valley Autism Program, Yampa Valley Stream Improvement Charitable Trust, Yampatika and Young Tracks.

January 2010 Colorado Group Realty Charitable Foundation Recipients:

Advocates Building Peaceful Communities (formerly Advocates Against Battering & Abuse) Incorporated in 1983, they now provide a 24 hour crisis response, sexual assault program, high school peer education program, criminal justice advocacy, and a residential shelter

Hayden Heritage Center - The museum, set in a 90 year-old train depot, captures the hopes and dreams of this small but lively Western town. From cowboying to coal mining, experience the authenticity of the homesteaders and the lives they carved out in this rugged and beautiful corner of Colorado.

North Routt Community Charter School Capital Campaign Fund – The proposed new building, the first phase of planned construction - would be a structure of about 12,000 square feet including six classrooms, a large gathering area and administrative offices. The building would have the capacity for 90 students.

Routt County Alcohol & Drug Abuse Council – the Routt County Alcohol Council provides alcohol, drug education, and Useful Public Service (UPS) Programs to the communities of Routt County.

Steamboat Springs Boys & Girls Club – Opened June 8, 2009, the club provides activities for children ages 6 to 18. The Boys & Girls Club activities include sports and recreation, arts and crafts, and educational programming.

The Nature Conservancy – In Colorado, The Nature Conservancy has helped preserve more than 426,000 acres and has established thirteen preserves statewide. The Nature Conservancy's historic Carpenter Ranch and scenic Yampa River Preserve are located in our beautiful Yampa Valley.

Yampa Valley Community Band – Was formed in October of 2009. The band rehearses one time a week and plans to perform four free concerts a year for the general public to enjoy.
