Long Realty Helped Make Holiday Season Brighter for Local Organizations and Families

Favorite

(TUCSON, AZ.) Southern Arizona Long Realty sales associates participated in a number of charity and food donation drives during the 2009 holiday season. Many branch offices conducted in-house food drives benefitting the Community Food Bank, while others selected Southern Arizona-based non-profit organizations to support:

Tanque Verde/Tucson East contributed to the Community Food Bank, gathering about 10 boxes of food and $200 in monetary donations.

The Foothills office collected about $150 in donations for the Humane Society of Southern Arizona and $300 in donations and five boxes of food for the Community Food Bank.

The Home Office collected 10 boxes of food and more than $300 in donations for the Food Bank.

Houghton/Southeast collected gifts for two teenagers in the Vail School District and about $50 for the Community Food Bank, while the Green Valley Food Bank received 149 lbs. of food donations and $385 in cash from the Green Valleyoffice during their Santa and Mrs. Claus drive.

The St. Vincent DePaul Food Bank in Sierra Vistareceived $1,000 and 100 lbs. of food from the Sierra Vista staff.

The Catalina, Central, Green Valley, Houghton/Southeast and Dove Mountain offices all made the season a bit brighter for a number of local families, with each office ‘adopting’ a family in their community for the holidays. Families received a variety of gifts, including food, clothing, toiletries, household necessities, games, gift cards and generous cash donations to help make their holiday season a bit brighter.

The Catalina office also donated nearly 100 toys to “Toys for Tots,” making Christmas morning a special time for underprivileged children in Pinal County. Similarly, River/Campbell collected three boxes of clothes, toys and toiletries for Emerge!

For the past six years, the Oro Valley office has supported the Naomi House Project, a charity comprised of needy children from the Navajo Reservation in Northern Arizona. On the branch Christmas tree hung the names of 30 children, with one or two presents requested on the back. Oro Valley agents and staff far exceeded the basic wants of each child, by giving more than one present. The branch also strived to meet the general needs of the Reservation by supplying them with toiletries, medicine and other household supplies.

The Casas Adobes office again worked to collect a large amount of assorted treats and necessities to send to our troops stationed at the 455th Air Expeditionary Wing at the Bagram Air Force base in Afghanistan. Volunteers filled 10 oversized bins in early November with plenty of time for them to be received for Christmas. Donated items included blankets, slippers, flashlights, batteries, snack foods, toiletries, makeup, pajamas, games, sunscreen, CDs, DVDs, magazines and Christmas decorations. The troops were delighted with the contents and were very touched by the generosity of the Casas Adobes agents and staff. The office also received many donations from clients, as well as other Long Realty branch offices.
