GREENWOOD VILLAGE – The Kentwood Companies, Colorado’s premier real estate firm, was a silver sponsor and participant in the 9th Annual First American State Bank Fitness Festival held September 12th in Greenwood Village. Approximately 3,000 people participated in the event to benefit the Cherry Creek School District, including 52 broker associates, managers and staff from The Kentwood Companies.

The First American State Bank Fitness Festival was created to help develop skills for a healthier lifestyle and to donate funds for youth development as a deterrent to negative behavior such as alcohol, other drug use and violent behavior. The event and affiliated organizations encourage positive alternative behaviors. The Fitness Festival benefits the Community Asset Project in the Cherry Creek School District.

“This was the fourth year that The Kentwood Companies participated in the Fitness Festival, but on a much larger scale than previously,” said Marla Cady, a top-producing broker associate with The Kentwood Company. “Our agents donated to the event as a way of giving back to the community by supporting the children in the Cherry Creek School District. Not only did our agents donate money, but they showed up in a force of 47 to participate in the run/walk, by volunteering in various capacities, and handing out tokens of our sincere appreciation for continued support of The Kentwood Companies. We also donated to the silent auction. The Fitness Festival is one of the finest events of its kind and we felt privileged as a group to be part of this great effort. We look forward to an even greater presence in 2010.”

The Community Asset Project (CAP) is committed to building community partnerships that promote developmental assets ensuring all children maximize their life skills and academic potential. The partnership that CAP has with the Cherry Creek School District impacts more than 50,000 students and their families through numerous youth leadership trainings and other asset building initiatives. CAP helps youth grow into healthy, motivated and responsible adults.

Held at Crescent Park on September 12th, the annual Fitness Festival included a silent auction, a 5K run/walk, food tasting, entertainment, giveaways, prize drawings, plus team prizes for the run/walk. There was also a t-shirt design contest. The event offered entry fees for children 17 and under, seniors 60 and over, adults, and family packs. All net proceeds benefited CAP and Cherry Creek Schools. The Fitness Festival was chaired by Debbie Lepetsos of First American State Bank.
