STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, CO— The Steamboat Springs Board of REALTORS® recently announced Lori Thompson, broker/owner of Colorado Group Realty, as its 2009 REALTOR® of the Year. Named for her time and service to the organization, Lori received several nominations.
Her peers noted the following in their nominations. “Always promotes the best ethical practices to all aspects of the business”, “Gives without expecting anything in return, plus she gives from the heart” and “Provided exceptional service and has gone beyond the call of duty.”
The Steamboat Springs Realtor of the Year has served on several committees including the important Community Christmas Dinner. She quickly volunteered to become a Director and moved into the decision–making process that governs how local Realtors operate. Lori served as President of the Board of Realtors from October 2008 to passing the gavel just a week ago.
During Lori’s term as President she focused on bringing new technology to the members. The new Real Estate Transaction Standard platform (RETS) expands the availability of local MLS data to the public. Paragon mobile allows MLS data to be viewed on broker’s phones. R Desk and E Marketer programs provided more marketing opportunities to brokers. Online document storage and a new membership management software program rounds out the list.
Education was also a primary goal of Lori’s recent term. Monthly educational forums, planned in conjunction with the local Affiliate Partnership Council offered sessions on various topics. She started working with the City on updating the sign code. This work is still continuing to date. A Managing Broker Summit was coordinated to provide education to the managing brokers on important topics. Lori worked with the Government Affairs Director to sponsor several candidate forums and meetings on state issues.
Thompson joined Colorado Group Realty in 1996. She has earned the Resort & Second Home Property Specialist (RSPS) designation and EcoBroker certification.
Thompson and her husband Danny have four children, Mari, Ryan, Jillian, Riley and one grandchild, Layla.
