Board of Regents Member Selected for NAR's Leadership Academy

COLORADO - (May 2009) - The National Association of REALTORS is a trade association whose 1,200,000+ members, and its institutes, societies, and councils, are involved in all aspects of the residential and commercial real estate industries. Member participation in committees lie at the heart of its governance and guidance. NAR is proud to announce that 27 individuals have been selected for the third Leadership class- the class of 2010.

Among them is Bonnie Smith-Allen, ABR, CIPS, CRB, CRS, GRI, MRE, ALHS of Colorado. Bonnie is the Owner and Managing Broker of Exclusive Mountain Retreats Real Estate in Breckenridge. Bonnie's past positions in the REALTOR organization include President and Realtor of the Year for the Summit Association of Realtors, District Vice President, and Board of Directors Member for the Colorado Association of Realtors and Director for the National Association of Realtors. She was inducted into the NAR RPAC Hall of Fame in 2007 and is a member of Golden R and NAR's President's Circle. The NAR Leadership Academy is a program to identify and train qualified members to learn more about how the Association works, its issues, values and vision in preparation to lead the Association into the future.

The Leadership Academy's Mission is:

-- To identify and develop leadership skills in emerging national leaders

-- Provide a context for understanding roles, requirements and challenges of leadership

-- Create a pool of potential leaders -- Develop greater organizational awareness

-- Ensure the Association maintains its relevance into the future

-- Create a network to diffuse change and practice innovation

Bonnie's work in the program will begin in August 2009 and will include a program in Leadership from The Pacific Institute. Her previous academic background includes a degree from Boston College and participation in the Executive MBA program from The Wharton Scool of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
