Harry Norman, Realtors to Sell Corporate Office — A Historic Landmark

In preparation for the company’s move to The Harry Norman, Jr. Building in Buckhead, Georgia this fall, Harry Norman, Realtors’ current corporate office building, located at 5229 Roswell Road in Sandy Springs, Atlanta, is listed for sale with the company’s commercial real estate division, HN Commercial. The property, built in the 1920s, has served as Harry Norman, Realtors corporate headquarters for the past 25 years and has been a focal point in the company’s marketing throughout that time.

One of the few remaining homes built in the 1920s on Roswell Road in Sandy Springs, the historic landmark was built as a private residence. Throughout the building’s history, it has also served as a speakeasy during Prohibition, a fraternity house for Georgia State University and multi-family housing. Harry Norman, Jr. purchased the property in 1979.

According to Abraham Kamor, the HN Commercial agent who has co-listed the property, “Harry Norman preserved the building by not compromising its architectural integrity. To this day, it retains its plaster walls, high ceilings, six fireplaces and original windows. The only original feature that does not remain is the widow’s walk at the top of the house.”

A south wing expanded the original structure in the 1950s and Mr. Norman added the greenhouse to the building when he bought it. Kamor further explained that all the expansions and renovations over the years have been done with such taste that it is hard to distinguish the new from the old.
