######################### SOLICITATION LETTER##############################

April 9, 2009

Dear Friend,

For two years running, Pacific Union Real Estate Brokerage has had the honor of

sponsoring fundraising events for Think College Now (TCN). If you attended or

donated in the past, thank you for your support. You already know how great it

feels to help this school and its students.

TCN is an elementary school in Oakland’s Fruitvale district. Through its unique

focus on college prep beginning in kindergarten, TCN is determined to give its

students – 91 percent of whom are low-income – the same opportunities available

to kids in better positioned neighbor-hoods. The school is succeeding!! It

won the California Distinguished School Award in 2008 – but doing so

against great odds.

Faced with severe state cuts, TCN's already tight budget stands to take a

$150,000 hit next year. These cuts endanger the very things that distinguish

this amazing school: dynamic after-school music and art programs, field trips,

and small, personalized class sizes.

TCN Principal David Silver and several students will be on hand to share their

passion for the school, and TCN's music class will present a special

drumming performance.

You can help this wonderful school by joining us for our third annual fundraiser!

This year's event features, once again, the jazz stylings of Oakland's own Nicolas

Bearde, a member of Bobby McFerrin's world-renowned a cappella vocal

ensemble. We're spicing up the evening with Cinco de Mayo-themed hors d'oeuvres

and drinks, plus a fantastic live and silent auction featuring fabulous trips to Maui

and Cabo, introductory flying lessons, a nighttime sailboat ride on the Bay, and

much more.

I feel strongly that better tomorrows begin with education, and it takes a full community effort. Please join us in supporting Think College Now at this fabulous fundraiser.

Date: Thursday, May 7th, 2009

Time: 5:30 P.M. to 9:00 P.M.

Nicolas Bearde will perform from 6 - 6:45 PM and again at 7:15 – 8 PM

Place: Piedmont Community Center, 711 Highland Ave. in Piedmont

Price: $50.00 per ticket. Includes two drink tickets, food and entertainment

If you have questions, please contact me at (510) 814-8148 or deeknowland@aol.com.

I look forward to seeing you on May 7 for a wonderful evening of jazz benefiting a

most worthy cause!

Warmest regards,

Dee Knowland
