Mark P. Riley Cares for U.S. Troops in Iraq

Mark P. Riley of Mark P. Riley Luxury Real Estate Group and Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club, located in Florida, have teamed up to care for the troops in Iraq. For the entire month of July, area residents have heard about the golf clubs, gloves and golf balls being collected at the Club and sent to the troops in Iraq by Mark P. Riley Luxury Real Estate Group.

Sandy Albano and Sheryl Vieira, twin sisters and employees of Mark P. Riley Luxury Real Estate, recently received a message from their 38-year-old brother who is currently stationed in Iraq, asking if they had any spare golf clubs to help pass the time. Scott Wisotzke, a Marine staff sergeant in the Indian Company, is protecting an air base in Iraq. He is commander of the platoon from Buffalo, N.Y., one of three platoons in that company. Wisotzke inquired about any spare golf clubs and the message traveled quickly to Scott Lamoureaux, director of golf for Lakewood Ranch and to Mark Riley. The two teamed up and created a month-long event to collect such items. The event kicked off on July 4th.

To date, they’ve collected 14 sets of clubs. "They just kept calling and saying, “We’ve got more; we’ve got more,” Albano said.

“You guys rock,” Wisotzke replied in an e-mail to his sisters. “Thank you so much for this! My guys and all the Marines I work with will be overjoyed. Tell everybody I said hello and thank you again.”
