Mile Hi Modern Team Bring Passion for Modern Architecture To The Kentwood Companies

DENVER – Peter Blank and Craig Mayer, two leading real estate professionals who comprise the Mile Hi Modern team, bring a unique expertise and passion for modern architecture to Kentwood City Properties in downtown Denver. The top-producing team specializes in architecturally unique properties representing a diverse blend of styles. Armed with vast knowledge and the resources to sell Modern homes, Blank and Mayer have established a successful real estate business marketing very special residential properties enhanced by the country’s No. 1 website devoted almost exclusively to Modernism.

“Colorado provides an ideal setting for modern architecture,” said Blank. “Our sun-drenched climate, big sky, and wide open spaces are conducive to large windows and indoor-outdoor living. Leading architects from around the country and locally have created many homes in Denver that were built in the modern style. One of the most documented examples of modernist residential architecture in Denver is Arapahoe Acres, a remarkable neighborhood in Englewood developed by Edward Hawkins. However, numerous modern style homes are scattered in pockets throughout the metro area.”

“Modernism in art, architecture and design is not just another style,” says Mayer. “It presents a new way of thinking. In the early 20th century, there was a lively constructive rebellion against traditional European styles in the visual arts. Exploration and experimentation greatly expanded our horizons and sensibilities. New goals and values, together with new materials and technologies and different ways of using older ones, led to art forms uniquely expressive of this age. Architects and urban planers became increasingly aware of the visual arts and to the qualities of modern living. By the 1950s, modernism became widely established in the United States and marked the high point of American civilization.”

According to Blank and Mayer, modern style homes are often characterized by strong horizontal lines with flat or low-pitched roofs, open interiors with vaulted or beamed ceilings, and floorplans shaped like an H, U, T or L that partially enclose outdoor space. These homes can showcase ample use of glass in clerestory windows, sliding doors, and skylights. As automobiles became more important, garages and carports also became important design elements.

Peter Blank and Craig Mayer have been team members for the past four years and share their passion for architecture. The Mile Hi Modern team also offers a design service and knowledge of “Green Built” technology and metro Denver’s most inspirational neighborhoods.
