Maui, HI - (November 2008) - Sakamoto Properties President and co-Founder, Roy Sakamoto, was honored by The Association of Fundraising Professionals Aloha Chapter on National Philanthropy Day (Nov.17th, 2008) in recognition of his long-term philanthropic achievements that have significantly impacted Hawaii. The award for Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser was based upon a culmination of Roy’s continued efforts in helping Hale Makua to achieve fundraising goals, his leadership role both on Hale Makua’s Board of Trustees and in spearheading fundraising events, and his success in motivating others to make contributions of time, money, and talent. Hale Makua is a non-profit organization, Maui’s leader in the field of elder care, continually growing and changing to meet healthcare demands of people of all ages because it truly cares about the community’s healthcare needs. Roy was also instrumental in having Hale Makua named as a benefitting charity of the Mercedes-Benz Championship at Kapalua Resort’s Plantation Course. For all that he has done and and continues to do for the organization, Hale Makua is deeply indebted to Roy for consistently and tirelessly helping to fulfill Hale Makua’s mission of excellence in our home and yours. Roy’s commitment to the Maui community is unparalleled and is exemplified by so many selfless acts of generosity.
