River Oaks, TX (November, 2008) - Who is buying mansions in River Oaks this year?  According to the annual John Daugherty, Realtors’ River Oaks Home Buyers Survey, men and women involved in the energy industry were the top purchasers of estates and homes in Houston’s most exclusive neighborhoods so far this year.

“Our statistics show that during the first ten months of this year, nearly 30% of the home sales in River Oaks were to individuals in the energy sector,” said John A. Daugherty, Jr., president of John Daugherty, Realtors.  “This is a marked increase over the past when only 14% of the buyers were from the energy industry.

“So far this year, investors were the second largest purchasers of homes in Rivers Oaks with almost 20% of the transactions,” Daugherty said.

Other professions represented by this year’s purchasers are:  finance 10%, insurance and real estate 4%, followed by commodities, business consulting, engineering, medical, and legal professions at 2% each.

“Once again, we were the leader in River Oaks,” said Daugherty. “No other real estate company participated in as many transactions as John Daugherty, Realtors.”

Established in 1967 and one of the most respected names in Houston real estate, John Daugherty, Realtors participated in 100% of the 10 most expensive homes, 80% of the 20 most expensive homes, and 60% of the 50 most expensive homes sold or were sale pending in 2007.

Without question, River Oaks is Houston’s best-known neighborhood. Here you will find an exceptional collection of 1600 splendid mansions, secluded estates and other graceful homes, where the lawns are neatly manicured and profusions of azaleas bloom beneath ancient trees.

The sweeping streets in this area, often named after golf courses, are woven beneath expansive oaks and tall pines and around pocket parks. At the borders of the River Oaks area is a host of services that make living here an easy pleasure, including boutique shopping centers, choice restaurants and the city’s finest schools.
