Italy Sotheby's International Realy

MILAN, ITALY - Italy Sotheby's International Realty, a leader in the luxury real estate industry, opens the first real estate showroom in Milan, in via Gesù 5. A club to welcome its guests in the heart of the Fashion District, showcased on the most exclusive streets in the world of fashion, design and furniture.

The space, identified by Sabrina Longhi, Head of High-Street retail of Italy Sotheby's International Realty, is located in Via Gesù, inside one of the most prestigious buildings in the neighborhood, Palazzo Bagatti Valsecchi and looks like an art gallery in which to welcome clients.

The main entrance to the showroom, which overlooks the street, opens in front of the Four Seasons Hotel, while another showcase is located at the entrance of the court. Finally, a secondary access is located inside, right in front of the tables of the well-known "Salumaio di Montenapoleone," a fervent meeting point of the historic center of Milan, where it is customary to meet people belonging to the world of business and fashion for a lunch, breakfast or for a chat in front of a cafe, in an environment as chic as it is reserved and welcoming.

The new space, with an interior design project created by the architect Emilio Scarano, is located inside the historical Bagatti Valsecchi Palace, today a museum and once home of two refined collectors, who at the end of the nineteenth century committed themselves to the renovation and decoration of their family home, selecting precious items and ancient paintings and thus transforming their home into a first example of Milanese design.

In continuity with the history of the Palace and the design capital city, the project welcomes guests of Italy Sotheby's International Realty in a private environment in which the space of work and dialogue merge, retracing the past through pieces of furniture that have made the history of the ‘900 design.

"The space, which overlooks with large and elegant windows on the street, represents a novelty for Italy Sotheby’s International Realty, which has always privileged a discreet presence even within historical buildings, such as Palazzo Gondi in Florence, Palazzo Odescalchi in Rome and Palazzo Borromeo in Milan," comments Clemente Pignatti Morano, Managing Partner of Italy Sotheby's International Realty. "The choice of Via Gesù, inside Palazzo Bagatti Valsecchi, is therefore aimed to facilitate the dialogue with friends and customers on the most exclusive properties of the Bel Paese and not only."

Next to the furnishing elements designed by Scarano – the desk and a bench, both characterized by pure and solid lines, whose volume is enhanced by the use of ash wood– you can admire the iconic D70 sofa designed by Osvaldo Borsani for Tecno, the monumental Valmarana table by Carlo Scarpa and other complements of great masters of twentieth century design, such as the "Leggera" by Gio Ponti, the famous lights by Tito Agnoli produced with O-Luce, the chairs of Charles and Ray Eames and the coffee table of the Danish Poul Kæjrholm. The furnishings, usually intended for private homes and here chosen for their universal and versatile language, are interpreters of a still new taste and forerunners of the contemporary characteristics of living.

"In Milan, because 'Milan is the most Italian thing in Italy,'" said Gio Ponti. Clemente Pignatti Morano continues “Italy Sotheby's International Realty wants to emphasize the link between design and good living, in continuity with the history of the brand, opening a hybrid space between club, home and a showroom, a place of dialogue and planning, an open and light environment, both in its shapes and function, in which everyone feels free to imagine the home of his desires.”

This location is actually a novelty for Italy Sotheby's International Realty, as for this Showroom, "the High-Street retail department has selected a location of the highest prestige, in the capital of design and fashion par excellence, that could follow the history of the city of Milan and the Brand Italy Sotheby's International Realty," comments Sabrina Longhi. “As a matter of fact, with almost 500 stores, the Fashion Quadrilateral holds today the primacy of transactions, which has made Milan the capital of Italian and international design. Thanks to The Salone del Mobile, in particular, for which a new edition is planned in September, this city presents itself as an open-air event, redesigning the permanent layout of Milan’ streets and attracting the attention of foreign investors. Therefore, it is not surprising to know that there are currently a hundred furniture brands in the territory. And then, it goes without saying, that we could not have chosen a better location for the first real estate showroom in the city."

The showroom team will offer guests the services offered by Italy Sotheby’s International Realty in its 10 offices already present in Italy and dedicated to the residential, High-Street retail, retreats and investments and advisory services divisions.
