ATLANTA – (Aug. 4, 2008) – Harry Norman, Realtors® Buckhead Office sales associate and EcoBroker, Carson Matthews, and his fellow sales associate, Cotten Alston, successfully lobbied the First Multiple Listing Service (FMLS) to include green features in their search engine.Harry Norman, Realtors logoDue to their efforts, starting August 7, 2008, any potential buyer searching for a home in the FMLS database will be able to search for green features, which include features such as low-flush toilets and tankless water heaters, in much the same way as they now search for the number of bedrooms and baths they prefer. This is a monumental achievement in that very few MLSs around the country currently offer the ability to search for “green” features within a home.As Matthews said, “The ability for the consumer to search for green features in a home is just the first step in making sustainability the standard rather than the exception in what is available in homes of the future.” FMLS President, Cantey Davis, is excited to offer these new search options. “Adding green search enhancements to our system is a direct response to feedback we’ve received from our members. We are committed to serving their needs and this is just one more way to do so,” said Davis.Matthews’s efforts have gained him national recognition in the green real estate community. He was a featured panelist at the recent EcoBroker Annual Conference & Expo held in Denver, Colorado. The two-day conference and expo showcased national speakers discussing the hottest green real estate topics such as affordability, green financing, technologies and real estate applications, greening your local Multiple Listing Service (MLS) and public relations success for your real estate business.About EcoBrokersEcoBroker is the program designed to help communities, across the United States and internationally, take advantage of and encourage energy efficiency and sustainable design in real estate properties.
