MARIN, Calif. – (June 2, 2008) – Pacific Union GMAC Real Estate is getting greener every day thanks to agents like Jonathan Marks, who is personally and professionally committed to the sustainable bottom line – people, planet and profit. Marks, who works from Pacific Union’s Greenbrae office, an EcoBroker who has earned numerous environmental certifications, has been asked by the California Association of REALTORS® (CAR) to sit on a roundtable discussion in Los Angeles on June 17 called Why Green Real Estate Matters. He will also participate locally on a green real estate panel on June 21 to discuss the rapidly changing world of green homes hosted by Sustainable Fairfax as part of its monthly community education series.Pacific%20Union%20GMAC%20Real%20Estate“With benefits ranging from greater energy efficiency and decreased pollution, to the reduction of water, preservation of natural resources and improved durability, buying and/or building a green home is the way of the future,” said Marks, a Pacific Union top producer. “As green building becomes more popular it only makes sense to expect those involved with the industry to become more qualified to provide green building services. I became a certified green building professional to best serve my clients’ interests.”The CAR event will include four real estate agents selected from throughout the state, including Marks, and will be moderated by Joel Singer, executive vice president of CAR. The discussion will be photographed, videotaped, recorded and prepared as an article to appear in the September green issue of the Association’s magazine. Podcasts will be posted on the CAR website for the public to view. The Sustainable Fairfax event will be held in the Sustainable Backyard from 10AM to Noon at 141 Bolinas Road in Fairfax. A panel of local experts including Marks, certified EcoBrokers Julie Vogt and Rachel DeMicco, Mortgage Green’s Tomek Rondio and green building professional Graham Irwin will discuss green homes. The presentation will define a green home, discuss how to buy and sell one, financing a green home, renovating it to become greener, and how to steer clear of “green washing.” A question and answer period will follow.
