The estate, also known as Il Podere, or “family homestead” in Tuscan dialect, was first envisioned in 2000 as the Rothkopf family ventured along one of their favorite hiking trails. Eight years later, the dream became a reality and 1548 Via La Favorita was constructed.

With 360-degree views of majestic, snow-capped mountains such as New York Mountain, Sawatch Range, the Gore Range or Castle Peak, this incomparable estate is a noble, Tuscan-style home and a timeless legacy. The home, like that out of a fairytale, was planned while the builder traveled with the family to Umbria and Tuscany for two weeks, taking hundreds of photos of the family’s favorite hilltop houses. “Our house is specially designed with hundreds of custom-made details. To afford its unobstructed views, it is not located directly on the ski slopes. To market such a product takes imagination, large quantities of market and financial knowledge, a lot of courage, and the will to work long and hard. Malia and Barbara have all these qualities in spades,” said Dick Rothkopf, the seller of the home.

It took time, but eventually the right class of buyers began showing up. The showings were long and arduous and there were no instant results. Malia remained focused and diligent. She ferreted out subtle selling points for the house and she worked closely with potential buyers and brokers, pushing, but never too hard and always with absolute integrity. The sale required a full two years, and largely due to Malia and Barbara’s skillful persistence, the house sold at a fair price,” added Rothkopf.
