Kentwood Real Estate logoDENVER, CO - Kentwood Real Estate is pleased to announce that Broker Associate Doug Hutchins has been selected as a RISMedia 2019 Real Estate Newsmaker. RISMedia, the leader in real estate news and information, announced the 2019 Class of Real Estate Newsmakers in December and will be showcasing the awardees in its upcoming news and magazine coverage, and with an event to be held this year in Washington, D.C.

RISMedia's Real Estate Newsmaker Awards recognize those individuals who are making headlines as a result of their newsworthy contributions to the real estate industry, and their efforts to positively affect the consumers and communities they serve. Hutchins was recognized for his involvement with Hope’s Promise Orphan Ministries, an orphan care organization based in Castle Rock, CO that cares for orphans in Kenya, Nepal, Vietnam and Zimbabwe.

"RISMedia's Real Estate Newsmaker Awards honor the industry's real newsmakers—the people who are positively affecting our industry and the millions of consumers we serve," said RISMedia Founder, President and CEO John Featherston. "Over the past three-plus decades, RISMedia has covered, chronicled and celebrated the professionals making news in real estate, and we are honored to continue to formalize these honors with the 2019 annual RISMedia Real Estate Newsmaker Awards."

A call for Newsmaker nominations was put forth to the industry this past summer and winners were selected by RISMedia editors for a range of accomplishments, including, but not limited to:

  • Advancing the industry
  • Impacting change
  • Technology achievements
  • Diversity and inclusion
  • Business accomplishments and growth
  • Humanitarian efforts
  • Industry activism and support
  • Thought leadership and influence
  • Excellence in customer service
  • Creativity and innovation

A select group of the 2019 Real Estate Newsmakers will be inducted into RISMedia's Real Estate Newsmakers Hall of Fame at RISMedia's 2019 Real Estate Newsmaker Awards Reception & Dinner at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., in May 2019.

“I am excited to be recognized by RISMedia for my involvement with Hope’s Promise Orphan Ministries. Hope’s Promise is making a huge impact in orphans lives by placing them in homes with loving parents in the countries Hope’s Promise serves. Typically, when you think of orphan homes, images come to mind of institutional orphanages with hundreds of children. But Hope’s Promise homes have between 3 and 8 orphans living with house parents who raise these children as their own. Hope’s Promise is not only taking care of the basic needs of these children but is providing them the resources and environment to thrive,” said Hutchins. Hutchins has served on the Board of Directors for Hope’s Promise for the past 8 years and contributes a portion of the proceeds of each closing he has to Hope’s Promise. He also recently completed a 12-day mission trip to visit the children in the Hope’s Promise homes in Nepal.

RISMedia launched the first annual Newsmakers Awards in 2018 with an inaugural Hall of Fame: National Association of REALTORS® Chief Executive Officer Bob Goldberg; HomeServices of America Chairman and CEO Ron Peltier; Howard Hanna Real Estate Services Chief Executive Officer Helen Hanna Casey; HSF Affiliates Vice President of Diversity & Inclusion Teresa Palacios Smith; RE/MAX Boone Realty CEO and National Association of REALTORS® 2018 President Elizabeth Mendenhall; Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Rand Realty General Manager and Chief Creative Officer Joseph Rand; and HomeSmart International Founder and Chief Executive Officer Matt Widdows. The group of real estate luminaries were honored at an awards reception and dinner the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.
