When to say When.......

No matter what part of the world, when you talk real estate, price is also the most sensitive issue, whether you represent the buyer or the seller. Agents around the globe often struggle with pricing recommendations, not because they do not know what the value is, but because their seller's want to push those limits. As an agent, when do you say when? When do you tell your client, the seller, that you cannot list the property at the price that he or she wants? And if you have already taken on the listing, at what point do you have the oh so uncomfortable conversation, making a recommendation to further adjust.

We All Scream

Ok. I am not 10 years old. I am a husband, father and successful and fairly serious businessman. But as the old saying goes, " You scream, I scream, we all scream for ice cream." So on a sunny Saturday afternoon, when my youngest daughter is begging me to to take her out for an afternoon ice cream, I can only pretend that she is begging me. So I play hard to get, act as if it is a sacrifice that only a true loving father would do for his child, and we hop in the car and head to the newest ice cream place...Let's be honest, a new ice cream place is about as much as a novelty as a lemonade stand in the summer. However, this one is different.

Chasing Technology

When my brother and I started our real estate company nearly two decades ago, we considered ourselves "ahead of the curve."  Keep mind that in those days, in the background of those discussions was the deafining sound of a dial up internet connection in tinned roof villa in the middle of a Costa Rican rainforest. After several years of operating our website, we made what was at the time a mind boggling decision to hire a SAAS provider in Canada to provide a CMS service to deploy our listings to the site. Prior to this, each property upload was a manual process, involving graphic design and several days of patience. While the platform was truly not designed for our unique real estate market in Costa Rica, it allowed our agents to freely upload their listings, and be syndicated across the globe.

With the continued growth of tourism in Costa Rica, comes competitive developments, cutting edge architecture and creative concepts to draw guests from around the globe. Santa Teresa, one of the country's hottest and most chic tourist destinations, is no exception. Over the course of the past few years, as travelers seeking barefoot luxury, off the grid in Costa Rica without sacrificing luxurious accommodations, fine dining, and of course, an artist inspired backdrop of jungle meets the ocean, real estate investment continues to thrive. New beachfront villas, ocean view estate homes or hilltop villas continue to lure global investors in search of the perfect vacation home.

Diversity in Manuel Antonio

May 30, 2018 — Scott Joshua Cutter, 2Costa Rica Real Estate

The irony of a Jewish boy from Alabama, writing an article about diversity in a small town, in the heart of a Catholic country in Central America is difficult to ignore. That being said, and from the heart of this small community in Costa Rica, I can honestly say that one of the main reasons I have opted to stay here after more than 20 years living in Manuel Antonio is that it is truly a progressive and diverse place to live.  Much is made of the stunning natural beauty of Costa Rica, peaceful nature of its people, longstanding democracy and its booming eco tourism industry, but the are nuances beyond the obvious which make the Manuel Antonio area even more special.

From the Big City, to the Big Ocean

My dream became a reality years ago on a trip to Costa Rica.  After spending over ten years in the financial corporate world I decided to explore Costa Rica during a one week vacation.  I have been blessed to have had the opportunity to travel quite extensively prior to my experience in Costa Rica, and this country which is famous for its natural beauty has a more subtle quality which is just as mesmerizing.  The laid back lifestyle, focus on well being, kindness, family, and the environment permeates in all aspects of the society. The country’s "Pura Vida" mantra which means Pure Life has roots far greater than a clever tourism slogan.

Costa Rica's yearly question; Rainy Season Yet?

May 30, 2018 — Dina Tochluk, 2Costa Rica Real Estate

Rainy season yet - or not? This is the famous question every year. Right about this time of year, right after Easter; we start to get a short but strong amount of rain. The rain is actually well welcomed due to the last few months being extremely hot and dry. The plants are drained and so is everything else, including me, so when those first drops happen there is shared happiness and festive feeling in the air around town. Theses rains are usually a refuel of water for plants and rivers to carry them thru what is the last stretch of summer. Summer technically ends in May. Once May hits you can officially say that rainy season will start at any moment.
