LuxuryRealEstate.com tops Ultimate Homes list, by far

Mar 26, 2008

By Robert Lockard Every year, Ultimate Homes magazine lists the top 1,000 most-expensive homes in the United States, and in the recent issue the competition between the different luxury-broker networks isn’t even close. LuxuryRealEstate.com has more than twice the number of luxury properties on the list as the closest network. Check it out:

Happy spring!

Mar 26, 2008

By Jennifer Schuyler March wind is a jolly fellow; He likes to joke and play. He turns umbrellas inside out And blows men’s hats away. He calls the pussy willows And whispers in each ear, Wake up you lazy little seeds; Don’t you know that spring is here?” Poet Unknown Editor’s Note: The Senior Membership Manager At LuxuryRealEstate.com Is named Jennifer Schuyler, Not Judy, Mary or Tom. That’s my attempt at rhyming for now. Not quite poetic, but oh well. I hope you enjoy a happy start of spring today!

Print is dead? Long live print!

Mar 26, 2008

By Janice Ridge We at LuxuryRealEstate.com have been hearing lately that some of our members are focusing more on Web marketing these days, and have reduced their budget for print. Well, let me ask you to rethink this trend. Here’s a story that just may change your mind. LuxuryRealEstate.com member Prominent Properties - Sotheby’s International Realty, in Tenafly, N.J., recently reported that a front-cover ad of the August/September 2007 issue of Unique Homes magazine not only brought their agent, Jennifer Patterson, the buyer, but she sold the listing at the full sale price of $11.8 million in cash! That equaled 28 times the initial investment made on the ad! Incredibly, the same all-cash buyer also purchased an estate in Greenwich, Conn. for $22 million!

Luxury & lifestyle down under

Mar 26, 2008

By Tim Derham I am thrilled to be given the opportunity to write for LuxuryRealEstate.com regarding the advantages of investing in luxury property in Australia. As I write this I can already hear my international peers ho-humming about the 25-hour flight it would take from New York to Melbourne or the 22-hour flight from London to Melbourne… yes that’s true, and I have no intention of trying to counteract that particular argument… However, once you finally disembark the plane, you will quickly appreciate the landscape and lifestyle opportunities awaiting you.

Looking beyond the gloom

Mar 26, 2008

By Robert Lockard I was looking through Google News a few days ago, and a Reuters story caught my eye. The story is entitled “Mortgage broker, lender plan too little too late.” It’s a somewhat dreary article, describing the hopelessness of our situation and the inability of the current plan devised by U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson to save the U.S. economy and homeowners from our current troubles.

California dreamin'

Mar 26, 2008

By Kimberly Fulwyler In San Diego on Tuesday, March 18, 2008, the forecast was sunny with a high of 67 degrees. San Diego is the rare city that is almost always perfectly warm.  What else does this city have to offer besides perfect climate? Beaches, legendary golf courses, and one of the biggest zoos in America are just a few of the attributes that make us love San Diego. In addition, this fair city is the host of the 6th Annual Spring Retreat held by LuxuryRealEstate.com. So instead of staying home this April, come and join us for learning, networking and some California Dreamin’. Editor’s Note: Kimberly Fulwyler is an Account Manager with LuxuryRealEstate.com, so she provides customer service and marketing materials to a variety of LuxuryRealEstate.com members. I’ve only been to California once, but I can definitely attest to the state’s beauty based upon that visit. We hope you’ll join us at the Spring Retreat.

The stars at night are big and bright

Mar 26, 2008

By Meghan Barry This week our CEO John Brian Losh (Brian) traveled to Texas to visit several Who’s Who Luxury Real Estate members - John Daugherty, Realtors, Bradfield Properties, Turnquist Partners Realtors, Inc. and Briggs-Freeman Real Estate. In Houston he met with Monica Duff, Cassie Julich, and John Daugherty of John Daugherty, Realtors. Brian had the pleasure of listening to John Daugherty sing the praises of our network to one of their newest agents. We look forward to seeing a big contingent from John Daugherty, Realtors at our upcoming Spring Retreat in San Diego. In San Antonio, Brian saw Kristy and Joyce Bradfield of Bradfield Properties, one of our newest members. And while in Austin, Brian met with Bob Kenney, Ralph Bell, Michele Turnquist, and Steve Turnquist (along with LuxuryRealEstate.com Director of Technology Michael Edlund) at Turnquist Partners Realtors, Inc. Turnquist Partners is also sending a group to the Spring Retreat. Before heading back to Seattle, Brian spoke with Charles Freeman, of Briggs-Freeman Real Estate, who reports that last year was their best yet and the Dallas market is thriving. Top producer Erin Matthews will represent Briggs-Freeman at our Spring Retreat. Our thanks go out to all of these members for their hospitality! It’s great to hear that the luxury niche is strong in Texas! Brian and I will travel to Florida March 24th through 28th to visit more members. News on those visits later this month… Editor’s Note: Meghan Barry is the Executive Vice President of LuxuryRealEstate.com. She works closely with CEO John Brian Losh to organize a variety of Luxury Real Estate programs, events and services. Mr. Losh is quite tireless in his efforts to visit both long-standing and new members of the LuxuryRealEstate.com network. I really like the title of this blog entry because one of the funniest moments in the 1985 movie “Pee-wee’s Big Adventure” is when Pee-wee is in San Antonio talking to someone on the phone. To prove that he’s really in Texas, he loudly sings, “The stars at night are big and bright…” and then all the people around him suddenly clap their hands four times in unison and burst into song, singing, “…deep in the heart of Texas!” That always makes me laugh.

Have to miss son's moment to attend "shared ownership" event

Mar 26, 2008

By Scott Rudolph So… I’m headed to San Francisco next week in order to meet with hundreds within the “shared ownership” sector. I’ll be missing my son’s first oral presentation before the school and I’m sick about it. No question, there is much to learn and much to discuss but, truth be told, I’m a dyed-in-the-wool, whole-ownership kinda’ guy.
