Things Are Looking Up....

Feb 28, 2009 — Liane ("Li") Read, Sea to Sky Real Estate

Since February, there have been consistent showings of properties, mainly in the low end, to start with, but now, going into March, we're seeing the higher end getting viewings, too. In my secondary home/discretionary marketplace, which is a seasonal market/resort based rhythm, the "norm" would be market activity between March Break and the Canadian Thanksgiving Weekend (early October).

Do Unusual Times Call For Extraordinary Energy?

Feb 27, 2009 — Julie Jones, PA, Florida Luxurious Properties

Absolutely. A potential seller I met with last week commented, “I want a broker who is going to bring energy to marketing my house and not just collect another listing.” This struck me as profoundly thought-provoking, especially in light of the President’s recent speech. Bringing a high level of personal energy to business is challenging at the moment, especially since every American must draw on personal, extraordinary energy to help rebuild their corner of America.

Remember The Creative Spirit...

Feb 27, 2009 — Liane ("Li") Read, Sea to Sky Real Estate

Media reporting continues to emphasize the negative that surrounds this societal shift. There may be no going back to what was, at the outcome of all the changes underway, but it's essential in such times to keep looking down the highway and not in the rear view mirror. I thought the whole point of the book "The World is Flat", by Friedmann, was the last chapter. It reminded Americans of their creative and proactive spirits, and emphasized that this was the path out of the morass. As a Canadian, in my Pacific Northwest Coast area, I would agree. In this clearly global shift, it needs that kind of proactive and creative stance to see the pathway to the "real 21st Century". A tall order! Your thoughts? Always welcome.

Boston Luxury Apartments - Great Value

Feb 25, 2009 — Joshua Alan Golden, Luxury Residential Group LLC

As one of the top high end apartment rental companies in all of Boston, we are starting to see some uncommon values. Just last week, a unit that was on the market for $12,000/month rented for $7,000/month at The Mandarin Oriental Boston(http://luxuryboston.com/The-Mandarin-Oriental-Condos). Deals like these are popping up throughout the city due to the poor economic climate we are all feeling.

In the past three days, I've been the recipient of numerous emails, plus several phone calls. Although it can be "quiet" in the off season, in my secondary home/resort based area, it usually does start to pick up in pre-Spring. That wasn't the case last year, though. From about April, 2008 to mid-January, 2009, it was sparse indeed. Fear does breed inaction.

Client Alert....

Feb 23, 2009 — Liane ("Li") Read, Sea to Sky Real Estate

I had an interesting call this morning, from a prospective buyer, who lives in Germany. He had responded to some ads I'd done, much earlier, and came out to my area to do a sailing charter. Contacted me, first, in March of 2007. When he turned up, late August, 2007, he said that he would not be buying after all, & forecast that unsettled times were before us, and so he would hold off on a major purchase (which would have been a third home, for him).

FundaField - The World Is Now Changing One Soccer Field At A Time!

Feb 23, 2009

By Jim Walberg of Caribbean Islands Realty Jim Walberg met two high school students who are making a difference in the world - $1 at a time. This story will inspire all of us I met Garrett and Kyle Weiss last week at my Rotary Club. These are two high school young men who were inspired to make a difference in this world because of attending the World Cup games several years ago. The most impressive soccer game they watched at the World Cup include an African team with almost no support and from a war torn country. They sat next to the small enthusiastic group of cheering fans and had the chance to speak with them about their country. They were shocked at the conditions in the country and how difficult it was to participate in the game of soccer that Garrett and Kyle love so much, because of having almost NO soccer fields.
