Leaskou Partners Palm Springs Charitable Endeavors – Palm Springs Animal Shelter

May 24, 2018

VP of Marketing Josh Pringle with VP of Social Media and Public Relations Rob Grace presenting our company’s monthly donation to Charlie Roddy the Director of Development at the Palm Springs Animal Shelter.

“Paw IT Forward” is a monthly charitable initiative, started by our Founder/President/CEO Benjamin Leaskou, wherein Leaskou Partners agents can choose to donate a portion of their commissions to the Palm Springs Animal Shelter, Food Bank program, matched 100% by Leaskou Partners Inc.

We are proud to support such a worthwhile charity...

Friends of the Palm Springs Animal Shelter (Friends) is a non-profit 501©(3) organization who manages and operates our city’s animal shelter. The Palm Springs Animal Shelter is an open admissions municipal shelter, operated by Friends of the Palm Springs Animal Shelter, serving the city of Palm Springs.

Our Mission

We are dedicated to building a community responsible for pet stewardship and humane treatment of animals.

Since 1996, Friends has been actively raising funds to help the Palm Springs Animal Shelter with operational needs. The old shelter was built in 1961 (nearly 50 years ago!), and was woefully inadequate to meet the needs of the current animal population in Palm Springs. In 2009, the City of Palm Springs allocated $5 million in a capital improvement bond and the process of designing a shelter that would stand as a model for Southern California was finally underway.

When the bids came in, we learned that building costs would be closer to $7 million, so The Friends of the Palm Springs Animal Shelter got busy raising funds for the new state of the art animal shelter. With the help of generous animal loving benefactors, we were able to raise the funds needed to build much of the new facility and ground was broken on the new shelter on July 7th, 2010.
On November 1, 2012 the City of Palm Springs and Friends of the Palm Springs Animal Shelter entered into an agreement allowing Friends to assume operation of the shelter.

This partnership paved the way for a new model of sheltering in the City of Palm Springs, and as a result the Palm Springs Animal Shelter is the only public shelter operating under a no-kill philosophy in the Coachella Valley.

Committed to being a humane and compassionate animal care and adoption center, the shelter does not euthanize animals for space, or for length of stay. As a public, open admissions shelter we provide a safe haven for ALL animals; adoptable, those who require rehabilitation, training and those requiring minor to severe medical treatment.

Friends of the Palm Springs Animal Shelter

To meet the challenge of compassionately operating a public shelter, Friends relies on donations, volunteers, community support and of course, ADOPTIONS!
