Since 1965, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County (BGCBC) has been empowering all young people to aspire to and realize their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens. To achieve this mission, BGCBC strives to provide world-class Club experiences to ensure that success is within reach of every child who is a member through programs such leadership training, volunteering in community projects and so on that cultivate good character and citizenship.
I have been fortunate to be able to employ my twin passions, real estate and children; to be a positive agent of change in my local community through BGCBC. In 2015, BGCBC served 12,620 youth of those served:
- 55% of Member Families Earn Less than $20,000 Annually
- 64% of Members Live in a Single Parent Headed Household
- 81% of Members Qualified for Free or Reduced School Lunch
- 83% of Members Attend Title I Schools
- 704,827 Total Visits of Member to Their Club
- 2,952,332 Total Hours Spent By Club Members in Their Club
These are only a smidgen of the many goals achieved by the BGCBC over the last year. All these and more were made possible through the dedication and enduring perseverance of the team and especially the Outstanding Women being honored this year. This event brings the community together to recognize how far these women have come in leadership roles in the business, community and philanthropic fields.
The BGCBC has been and continues to be the ideal partner for me to make a difference in the lives of children with other like-minded individuals especially the women whom I have had the privilege of sharing the 100 Outstanding Women of Broward County honor with this year. I started as a member some 12 years ago by donating my time and as my career as a realtor took off, I now donate time and funds. I have been President of the Lester H. White National Football League Club for the past four years. I have had the pleasure of co-chairing this event in the past and have been an honoree for several years. This year, I am a proud sponsor! I enjoy being a proactive member especially when I have the privilege of leading my team of boys and girls through the Annual Club Summer Clean Up and the April BBQ where the afternoon is spent with the children and families.
I started giving back more than 12 years ago by simply donating my time. In return, I have gained a sister, Mollie whom I have been fortunate to have mentored since she was 11 (through Big Brothers Big Sisters) and am part of the BGCBC team with amazing individuals who share my passion – the wellbeing of children.
