On November 14, John’s Island, a private gated residential community in Florida, celebrates their opening weekend with highly-anticipated festivities to kick off their high season to welcome back families and their guests.
John’s Island, a quaint seaside community located just north of Vero Beach, notably combines the flawless beauty of the tropics with the architectural beauty of a country club community. This 1650-acre barrier island is a membership-only, residential community that includes access to an exquisite beach club, sporting clubs and a lifestyle of casual but sophisticated luxury.
Several events taking place for John’s Island members and their guests include a 3-day open house tour hosted by John’s Island Real Estate Company – the on-site real estate office selling exclusively John’s Island properties since 1969.
There is something for everyone at John’s Island. Sea-scented breezes and swaying palm trees beckon from the recently completed Beach Club offering the most breathtaking, panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean from nearly every seat in the house. The astonishing 50,500+ square foot oasis with West Indies colors and décor offers a casual, yet decidedly sophisticated feel. At the heart of the Beach Club is an 89-foot illusion-edge pool for lap and recreational swimming, a generous pool deck well stocked with lounge chairs, tables and sun umbrellas, indoor and outdoor dining areas and a giant oceanside lawn providing space for large Club events including beach bashes, the extravagant 4th of July celebration, weddings and other private affairs. For the little ones, there is a separate wading pool with fountain, and a JI Kidz Room hosting Fun Clubs, scheduled movies and other special activities.
Poolside and beachside drink and food services are available throughout the day. There is a walk-up window serving popular and kid-friendly fare such as wraps, salads, fresh fruit and chicken strips and, of course, burgers and dogs.
A popular place to meet up with friends or to relax while reading the morning paper is the causal ocean bar, Rafters. Opening early to serve breakfast and fresh pastries, it also offers a coffee bar featuring a variety of coffee beverages throughout the day and evening. Tapas are served from the early evening until late at night. Adjacent to Rafters is a cozy large, outdoor living area complete with fireplace and panoramic views of the sparkling ocean and pool.
The Island Room and Ocean Hearth, each with its own special ambience, provide indoor and outdoor dining. The inside dining is spacious and seats nearly 250 people, while the patio dining seats more than 130 people. Around the corner, a handsome library with fireplace and billiards room adjoins the media center with internet-capable computer, FAX machine and other small office extras.
Along with the beach club, the sporting life of this community keeps its members highly active. Members enjoy three 18-hole championship golf courses designed by notable golf course architects such as Pete Dye, Jack Nicklaus and Tom Fazio. The signature West Course, designed by Tom Fazio, features no homes and ranks among the most difficult in the nation. Along with golf courses, John’s Island offers 18 Har-tru tennis courts with full time tennis Professionals, weekly tournaments and competitions, a North American doubles, air-conditioned squash court, professional croquet, a state-of-the-art health and fitness center and over 20 miles of private shaded roads for walking, running and biking. No matter the interest or age, members have access to unparalleled amenities and a lifestyle beyond compare.
