One of the few professional Actors' Equity Guest Artist Theatre companies operating in the state of South Carolina, The Actors' Theatre of South Carolina was founded in 1995 by theatre, film and television veterans, Clarence Felder and Chris Weatherhead, to bring excellent theatre to South Carolina. Charleston Stage, founded by Playwright Julian Wiles in 1978, is South Carolina's largest professional theatre company.
