Albany and the surrounding area are located on the world's largest rechargeable underground aquifer. Farms and timberlands in the area are productive and there are more than 100 plantations in the neighborhood. These wonderful estates average about 6,000 acres in size and are operated primarily for quail hunting. They are visited by people from around the world.

Chehaw Wild Animal Park

Originally laid out by noted naturalist Jim Fowler (of TV's Wild Kingdom), Chehaw Wild Animal Park features natural habitat exhibits with native and exotic animals.

Visitors can stroll the scenic boardwalks through the cypress swamps and see a wide variety of animal exhibits.

The Albany Symphony Orchestra

The Albany Symphony Orchestra traces its roots back to 1965 when a group of dedicated individuals who foresaw the potential for a professional orchestra came together to form the Albany Symphonette.

Royal Air Force Memorial

Honors the British Royal Air Force cadets who were buried in Albany and it stands as a memorial in honor of all British cadets who trained in the U.S. during World War II.

Golf and Tennis

River Pointe Golf Course

Voted the No. 1 golf course in Albany three years running. The home of the 2003-2004 GSGA Georgia Four Ball Tournament. One of the most beautiful courses in the south.

Doublegate Country Club

Features recently rebuilt greens by John LaFoy, level tree-lined fairways and water hazards on six holes. Every hole has a dogleg fairway.

Thronateeska Heritage Foundation
