Joan (pronounced Yo-ahn) grew up in Wassenaar, The Netherlands, in the countryside surrounding The Hague. Joan originally pursued a career in Medecine at the prestigious Leiden University; Shortly after that he moved to USA and continued his education in the USA in 1987, and received an MBA, specializing in International Marketing.

Fluent in English, French, Spanish and Dutch, Joan is equally at home in his native country and here on the East End. With an entrepreneurial spirit and a career record in international business - Joan has been able to hone his management style and abilities as a skilled negotiator. Over a decade ago, he discovered the North Fork, and real estate quickly became his passion. Active in real estate consulting, investment & management, he founded his own real estate firm, Buyers Connections Realty, prior to joining Town & Country, as Managing Director of North Fork Operations.

He is uniquely connected to the community and promotes tourism on the North Fork, serving as an Officer of the North Fork Promotion Council, the umbrella organization of all chambers of commerce, the Greenport Business Improvement District, B&B associations, the Long Island Wine Council and the Arts in Southold Town among other groups. Also active in the Netherland's Club and the Orde van den Prince - both in NYC, Joan was recently elected President of the Volkspartij vooor Vrijheid en Democratie US in addition to being a member of the Oyster Ponds Rod and Gun Club.

Often enjoying a glass of local, North Fork wine, Joan can be found at McCabe's Beach watching a sunset, however, is never to busy to aide a colleague and offer assistance to a customer or client.
