Landrigan & Company’s roots are among the deepest in Indianapolis real estate history. Three generations of Savage-Landrigans have worked with buyers and sellers of residential real estate for over seventy years. Hundreds of agents have been members of the family’s firms. More importantly, a reputation of competence and professionalism has been earned.
Bruce Charles Savage, a cheery, principled man whose voice had briefly taken him to Broadway, began the practice of real estate in Indianapolis with a leading local firm in 1940. Within a very short period of time, he was the acknowledged leading agent on the city's North Side. In 1944, he opened the Bruce Savage Company. Chiefly specializing in the brokerage of fine homes and properties on the North Side and then-suburban areas of Indianapolis, the firm quickly grew to become Indiana's largest residential real estate firm in terms of production. The firm was among the first in Indianapolis to establish branch offices, encourage women agents, and see the value of relocation networks. Following a term in Washington as the Eisenhower Administration's director of what immediately thereafter became HUD, Savage handed the reins to his son in law, the creative and equally personable Richard Landrigan. Reflecting the retirement, the firm’s name was changed to Savage/Landrigan, Inc.
While many firms embraced the idea of mass expansion, Richard Landrigan consciously pursued a program of controlled growth and specialization that enabled the firm to retain its unique identity and reputation while adapting to modern trends. Landrigan died unexpectedly in 1984 and the firm closed, still ranked as one of the city's largest. In an article reporting the closure, the firm was described by the Indianapolis Business Journal as being among the city's "oldest and most respected" real estate firms.
G.B. Landrigan, their son and grandson, graduated from Wabash College the following year and entered real estate. For twenty years, he worked with one of the city's leading real estate organizations; By March of 2005, however, he sensed that the time was right to create a new firm that embraced the values and unique qualities of the old Savage Company while blending it with a more modern business model that would attract agents who value independence, knowledge, and discretion. The creation of Landrigan & Company established the reemergence of Indianapolis’s original “boutique” firm.
The firm enjoys spectacular views from its new offices overlooking Monument Circle, Indianapolis' celebrated center. This has enabled it to be closer to the daytime workplaces of a large portion of its clients working in law offices, financial institutions, state and local government, insurance companies, and other businesses headquartered there. While the firm's agents work with a wide range of sellers and buyers, it is especially known for its work in the Northern half of Marion County and Southern Boone and Hamilton counties.
The Company also publishes The Landrigan Monthly , the first public real estate report covering all 13 counties of Central Indiana. Frequently used as a resource for the local media, it may be found each month on the firm’s popular website - Landrigan.com. It is also the sole Indiana affiliate of Who's Who in Luxury Real Estate, the international collection and referral network of fine property brokerages and brokers.
