With a background as a corporate executive responsible for real estate investments, wholesale and retail trade & finance, Dominic DeFazio made the move in 1981 to the field he enjoyed most, becoming a real estate broker. His firm, Dominic deFazio and Associates, quickly grew to become one of the leading creative boutique realty companies in Old Pasadena and - along with his soon-to-be wife, Hem Young de Fazio, the business thrived.
In 1991 Dominic deFazio and Associates merged with Podley, Caughey & Doan to form a company that by mid-1998 had caught the eye of Coldwell Banker. After the CB buy-out, the deFazios remained an integral part of the company until 2014. Most recently, the deFazios have joined deasy/penner&partners to continue their unique marketing concept The de Fazio Experience - a new approach to real estate sales and service.
Over the years, Dominic has served as president of the 1,200-member Pasadena Foothills Association of Realtors, and sat on the Associations Board of Directors for five years, as well as on the board of the California Association of Realtors.
In 2005, Dominic successfully completed an extensive series of programs and courses in order to gain one of the most respected and relevant designations in real estate business management, that of CRB (Certified Real Estate Business Manager), becoming one of only 7,000 members worldwide.
In this hurry-up world of real estate sales, it’s comforting and reassuring for clients - be they developer or consumer - to have an agent who works at a thoughtful pace, considering every aspect and all possible ramifications of the deal. Hem-young deFazio, a California Realtor since 1988, is a natural at this approach.
Hem-young feels a deep responsibility to her clients, viewing her service toward them as a lifelong commitment. She enjoys interacting with people from different cultural backgrounds, and excels at finding creative solutions the unique challenges created by their distinctiveness.
Her rare combination of skills and stellar customer service led to her to a partnership with her husband Dominic deFazio at Dominic deFazio & Associates — a local real estate boutique they formed and successfully operated for ten years. After their firm partnered with Podly, Caughey & Doan and was eventually acquired by Coldwell Banker, Hem-young was a consistent member of Coldwell Banker’s International President’s Premiere Group and ranked in the top two percent of agents internationally during her 16 years with the real estate giant.
Hem-young and Dominic continue to be partners in business and life as they bring their dynamic collaboration, The deFazio Experience, to deasy/penner&partners, where they serve as a partners and vital members of the dynamic and creative real estate company.
