The Gardner Real Estate Family Shows GARDNER LOVE to the Homeless

Favorite

1404839113NEW ORLEANS, LA - The Gardner Real Estate Family and other community volunteers showed GARDNER LOVE at the New Orleans Mission on Monday, June 23, by serving dinner to over 200 male and female homeless individuals in the New Orleans area.

The New Orleans Mission serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner Monday through Friday throughout the year, while also serving breakfast and lunch on the weekends. Each month, the Mission serves over 18,000 hot meals to the people they assist. Additionally, the Mission offers medical and educational programs while also engaging the homeless population with daily Bible classes, weekly chapel services and spiritual guidance.

Although homelessness in the New Orleans area is dropping, the rate of homelessness among women is up 66 percent since 2012. To help combat the issue, The Gardner Real Estate Family recently launched the fundraising efforts and helped raise the $300,000 needed to expand the New Orleans Mission Women’s Center by purchasing an adjacent building, now called The GARDNER Cottage. The expansion has double the amount of beds in the Women’s Center from 16 to 32, making it the largest shelter exclusively for women in the New Orleans area.
