STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colorado (May 19, 2010) – Call it spring training, but for the 60+ realestate professionals of Colorado Group Realty, the past several months have been spent in groups and one-on-one, goal-setting and evaluating sales systems.

CGR has teamed up with real estate and marketing consultant Don McLean, a former realestate broker with more than 30 years of Colorado resort marketing experience, for a coachingprogram that offers agents tools to better assist clients and support their own business practices.“Like all professionals, the agents at CGR recognize they have to continue to improve, practiceand educate themselves in the market to remain the quality firm they are,” said McLean. “Afterworking with hundreds of brokers in Vail/Beaver Creek and Telluride, I have such a confidence in the team at CGR and enjoy helping them because of their incredible knowledge and pride in Steamboat.”

As a firm, CGR has been strategizing with McLean to strengthen its markets and brand pillarsof teamwork, local knowledge and community involvement. Individually, sessions have covered the new-and-creative to the tried-and-true ways to structure transactions in today’s challenging market. “One area CGR is focusing on is to help property owners trade up or down depending on the buyer or seller needs,” said McLean, adding, “With over 2,000 listings in the MLS, the trade option allows CGR to create activity in the marketplace and stimulate sales in a tough market.”Mike Autrey, a real estate broker for 37 years and one of CGR’s broker/owners sees thebenefits of CGR’s coaching and training program.

“No matter how many years you’ve been in the business, you can always learn from someoneoutside of your market that can critique you from the outside,” said Autrey. “In Don’s case it’s even better because he’s got so much experience working in mountain communities like ours.”McLean trained and worked under real estate industry leaders Harry Frampton and MarkSmith of Vail Associates/Beaver Creek Properties from 1981-85 before joining the Telluride RealEstate Corp. in 1985, an exclusive Christies affiliate which he purchased in 1994 with four partners“I’ve been through multiple sales programs over the past 30 years and I’ve taken points fromthe best of them and shared them with the CGR agents,” explained McLean. “Importantly, though, I’ve been through, and survived, some tough periods in Colorado real estate: I started in Beaver Creek when prime was 21%; there was Black Monday in 1987; then the savings and loan crisis in the early 90s, followed by the dot-com bust; and now we are coming out of what they call the Great Recession. Despite all this, Colorado will grow and be a place where people want to live and recreate; and Western Slope ski towns continue to be places where people want to visit, invest and retire. “The Steamboat area will definitely be in demand as Colorado’s population is projected to increase to six million by 2020.”

McLean relocated to Steamboat with his family in 2006 from Telluride after selling his realestate firm and is currently involved in real estate several projects in the Telluride/San Juan region.
