Wengen is a beautiful high alpine village in the Bernese Oberland, one of Switzerland's most famous ski regions. Lying on a sheltered terrace at an altitude of 1300 m (4265 ft) at the foot of the magnificent Jungfrau mountain range, Wengen boasts many hours of sunshine as well as consistent snow conditions. The resort is only accessible by train - no cars are allowed. The car-free policy and numerous old, well-maintained wooden chalets give it the charm and character of a typical mountain village. Wengen is also the starting point of the wonderful train ride to Jungfraujoch, Top of Europe (3454 m / 11,333 ft), Europe's highest train station.

The Jungfrau Top Ski Region offers a network of 45 modern lifts, 213 km (132 mi) of perfectly prepared runs, 100 km (62 mi) of wonderful winter walking paths and 50 km (31 mi) of thrilling toboggan runs! The aggressive downhiller will find his or her piece of heaven on World Cup downhill courses, and the off-piste deep powder hound will find runs through wide open bowls. Long cruising runs offer gentle alternatives for intermediate skiers. With a special Aktiv Pass, non-skiers can ride most of the lifts and all of the trains and enjoy many miles of prepared winter walking paths.

Our home for the week will be the elegant, 4-star Hotel Regina located in the center of town near the rail station. The hotel owners, Guido and Ariane Meyer, look forward to spoiling us during our visit. Since 1894, the hotel has been a hallmark of quality and has maintained a grand tradition of hospitality. The hotel offers a lounge with open fireplace, bar, disco and two restaurants. The fitness area features a sauna, steam room and exercise room. The full-service beauty center offers massages, facials, manicures, pedicures and more.
