Located midway on Vancouver Island, the Comox Valley includes the municipalities of Comox, Courtenay and Cumberland. The population of the rural and urban areas is approximately 65,000 ranging from Ship's Point in the south to Oyster River in the north, including the gulf islands of Hornby and Denman.

CFB Comox and YQQ
CFB Comox is not only home to several Canadian military air squadrons including rescue and maritme patrols but is the site of the civilian international airport designated YQQ. Civil flights leave daily for Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton with regularly scheduled winter departures to foreign shores.

Comox
A town of approximately 12,000 overlooking Comox Harbour and including the military base CFB Comox and the Comox Valley international airport(YQQ)
Courtenay
A city of about 20,000 located on either side of the Courtenay River estuary including the destination golf resort at Crown Isle.
Cumberland
A village of about 3000 with a coal mining history nestled in the hills below Mt Washington Ski Resort.
Comox Valley rural areas
Under the jurisdiction of the local Regional District, the rural areas have more than half a dozen communities including Fanny Bay, Union Bay and Royston to the south and Tsolumn, Merville, Black Creek and Oyster River to the north.
