Las Vegas, real estate conferences, ideas that spark...

Apr 30, 2009 — Liane ("Li") Read, Sea to Sky Real Estate

In this societal mixup, with things we counted on erasing themselves, bit by bit, just like Alice in Wonderland's Cheshire Cat (only his smile was left, in the end), it was so important to be "listening" to the conversations in between the seminars, at the recent LRE conference.   Everyone seemed to be experiencing the same meltdowns, the same concerns about the bottom line, the same whispers of activity since February, mainly in the low end opportunities, the fearfulness on the part of buyers, the sense that sellers aren't yet totally in the "real world"...so good to hear similar concerns and also some very innovative suggestions for the "now".

Fort Lauderdale Live: Beach Side Vacations

Apr 30, 2009 — Julie Jones, PA, Florida Luxurious Properties

Not all resort vacations require travel.  Those of us lucky to live and work in Fort Lauderdale need not travel far to experience a bit of stress-relieving decadence.  I’ve conducted some “back yard” research and discovered luxury weekend vacations are only a coconut’s throw away. Beach side resorts were my target for this search.  I started south by the Port Everglades Inlet and worked north.  I predict the first “back yard” vacation could begin in the long-established oceanfront resort, Lago Mar, at 1700 South Ocean Lane, nestled between the beach and Lake Mayan in Harbor Beach.

Consumer confidence on the rise in Whistler BC Canada -Home of the 2010 Olympics: 14 sales over $1 million in the first Quarter of 2009 !

Apr 27, 2009 — Ursula Morel, RE/MAX Sea to Sky Real Estate

Consumer confidence on the rise in BC- Canada -Home of the 2010 Olympics In March, consumer confidence in BC reached 82.6 points, increasing 1.4 points over February 2009. In comparison, the national consumer confidence index rose 2.7 points to 71.5 points.    “British Columbians are typically the most optimistic of all Canadians,” explains Conference Board of Canada economist Todd Crawford. “A big part of this is due to the fact that British Columbians have always enjoyed a higher level of income than most other Canadians, and the unemployment rate has traditionally been lower in the west than elsewhere in the country.” Crawford attributes the lower federal number to economic difficulties in Central Canada, where the impact of the global recession has been more severe.     “Although the March figures aren’t evidence of a trend yet, even a small increase in confidence is a good thing for BC,” Crawford adds.     The recent Conference Board of Canada survey focused on four areas: respondents’ current financial situation, how they picture their job prospects in six months’ time and whether now is a good time to make a large purchase, such as a house or car.    “Findings determined that British Columbians are more likely to go out and buy a home right now than they have been over the past months,” Crawford says. “But just because people are willing doesn’t mean they have the credit they require to make such a purchase. Credit difficulties will most likely continue to prevent people from carrying through on their intentions.”

Ritz-Carlton St. Thomas Completes It’s Make-Over!!!

Apr 23, 2009

By Jim Walberg of Caribbean Islands Realty The St. Thomas Ritz-Carlton just completed the entire re-design of 81 of their 105 two and three bedroom two residences! As you may recall, the Ritz at Red Hook, St. Thomas is one of my favorite elegant places to stay in the Virgin Islands. This particular Ritz-Carlton was the beta test site for the Deeded Fractional Ownership concept for the Marriott Corporation over ten years ago. The outstanding results created at this Ritz-Carlton with the sellout of their initial fractional ownership opportunities launched the development of deeded fractional ownership within the Ritz organization worldwide. They have now expanded luxury villas at their Red Hook, St. Thomas location as part of their deeded fractional ownership product. Their success with this concept has now swept over the entire Caribbean.

Raffi's Child Honouring Centre introduced to Salt Spring Island...

Apr 22, 2009 — Liane ("Li") Read, Sea to Sky Real Estate

Raffi, the noted children's entertainer, after a thirty year career, and about eleven years thinking and planning about the opportunity to create a Child Honouring Centre, is now putting his ideas into practice.   Raffi now makes his home on Salt Spring Island, and he plans to create the first centre, here, and then to model/export the concept, globally.   He will most likely turn up with a presentation/event, in an area near you, and you will be really glad if you attend.    Raffi's joyous spirit and upbeat music had everyone at ArtSpring, last evening, wanting to be "dancing in the street"!     The Dalai Lama, Nelson Mandela, Jane Goodall are just some of the people who have supported and endorsed Raffi's concept.   His plan is nothing less than to bring health and peace to society, by focusing on the well being of children, and thereby of the family and of the greater society.   As he says, "it takes a Village to raise a child".    Check out Raffi's website (www.raffinews.com) for more details, and download a copy of his latest CD principal song (Communion).    He is calling  his venture Spirit of One, as it is an individual response that is needed.    It is individuals who create change.
